Closing Bell: Sensex Slumps 539 Points, Nifty Below 24,100;

Market Close | August 27, 2026: Indian equity benchmarks extended their decline for the second straight session on Thursday. The Sensex fell 539.35 points, or 0.70%, to 76,933.59, while the Nifty50 declined 116.90 points, or 0.48%, to 24,090.85. Among Nifty50 stocks, !Hindalco Industries,

, !M&M, !HCL Technologies and !Shriram Finance were among the major laggards. On the other hand, !Kotak Mahindra Bank, !Adani Enterprises, !Bharat Electronics, !Cipla and !Adani Ports featured among the top gainers. Sectorally, Consumer Durables and Pharma gained nearly 1% each, while Media, Metals, Oil & Gas, PSU Banks, Auto and FMCG ended lower by around 0.4–0.9%.
