FII/DII Activity: Institutional Flows and Market Snapshot

August 21, 2026 Foreign institutional investors remained net sellers in the cash market, while domestic institutional investors maintained strong buying support during Friday’s session. FII/DII Flows FII Cash Market: Net sell of ₹542.71 crore DII Cash Market: Net buy of ₹2,124.14 crore FII Index Futures: Net buy of ₹363.54 crore FII Index Options: Net buy of ₹838.12 crore FII Stock Futures: Net buy of ₹858.47 crore FII Stock Options: Net sell of ₹205.48 crore The data shows a clear contrast in cash-market activity, with DII purchases substantially outweighing FII selling. FIIs, meanwhile, recorded net buying in index futures, index options and stock futures, while remaining sellers in stock options. Market Performance The Nifty50 closed at 24,252, gaining 20.15 points, or 0.1 per cent. The Sensex edged up 3.11 points to 77,540.83. The India VIX rose 4.1 per cent to 11.20, indicating a modest increase in market volatility despite the largely flat movement in the benchmark indices. Overall, strong DII buying helped offset FII cash-market selling, keeping the domestic equity benchmarks marginally positive at the end of the session.
