$RELIANCE Industries, Rolls-Royce to jointly develop combat engine for AMCA programme

$RELIANCE and UK-based aerospace giant Rolls-Royce have announced a strategic collaboration to develop an indigenous combat aircraft engine for India’s Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme. The proposed partnership seeks to combine $RELIANCE Industries’ manufacturing capabilities with Rolls-Royce’s advanced aerospace engineering expertise to support the development of a home-grown propulsion system for India’s next-generation fighter aircraft. The initiative is expected to bolster India’s efforts towards achieving greater self-reliance in defence manufacturing and reduce dependence on imported aero-engine technologies. It also aligns with the government’s broader Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives aimed at strengthening the domestic defence and aerospace ecosystem. The collaboration marks a significant move towards building indigenous capabilities in advanced aircraft propulsion and could help establish a stronger industrial base for the development and production of future-generation combat aircraft engines in India.
