HAL Eyes Tejas Mk1A Deliveries by Year-End

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited is targeting the start of deliveries of the LCA Mk1A fighter aircraft to the Indian Air Force by the end of 2026, according to a recent report quoting HAL Chairman and Managing Director Ravi K. The company is working to resolve the remaining radar and weapons-integration issues before beginning handovers. The development is significant for HAL as the Mk1A programme has faced delays linked to engine availability and testing requirements. HAL had earlier indicated that deliveries could begin around August-September after progress on engine supplies and technical issues. The company has also been expanding production readiness, with multiple Mk1A airframes already built and flown. The Indian Air Force has a large requirement for new fighter aircraft, while the government has placed a separate order for 97 additional Mk1A aircraft, with deliveries under that contract scheduled to begin from 2027-28. For HAL, successful commencement of Mk1A deliveries would mark an important programme milestone and could support execution visibility across its sizeable defence order pipeline.
