Tata Chemicals Ltd. in Focus After US Soda Ash Deal

TATACHEM
Tata Chemicals is in focus after its US subsidiary, Tata Chemicals North America, acquired customer contracts of Searles Valley Minerals, representing more than 500,000 metric tonnes of soda ash to be supplied over two years. The contracts are expected to generate over $110 million in revenue through 2028, strengthening the company’s North American business and improving sales visibility. For Q1 FY27, Tata Chemicals reported consolidated revenue from operations of ₹4,255 crore, up 14% year-on-year. However, consolidated EBITDA declined to ₹555 crore from ₹649 crore, while net profit fell to ₹60 crore from ₹316 crore, mainly due to lower realisations in overseas markets and reduced other income. The company continues to face pressure from global soda ash oversupply and weak pricing conditions. Going forward, investors will monitor the contribution from the newly acquired US customer contracts, global soda ash prices, operating costs and demand recovery across industrial chemicals. While the deal provides additional revenue visibility, sustainable improvement in realisations and margins will be crucial for Tata Chemicals to strengthen profitability and support its stock performance.
