Bank Nifty Weekly: 200 SMA Holds, Golden Cross Untested
Bank Nifty's eleventh straight week of sideways consolidation added a twist rather than a resolution. The index briefly cleared both the 50 and 200 SMA during the week, building on the prior week's Golden Cross, but could not sustain it — closing near the 200 SMA at 57,496.30, down 0.46% from 57,761.95. RSI eased to 49.81 from 53.72, slipping back near the midline for the second time in three weeks, reflecting continued indecision.
The 200 SMA at 57,451 is now the critical line in the sand — it held as support this week, and the Golden Cross thesis depends on it continuing to do so. Above, the descending trendline at 58,500 and the Gartley D-point PRZ at 59,100 remain untested and stay the range's ultimate ceiling.
Base case: continued sideways grind between the 57,451–57,620 SMA cluster into a twelfth week. A close above 58,500 then 59,100 would validate the Golden Cross; a decisive, sustained close below 57,451 would hand the bears the edge and reopen 56,023.
