Gold Loan Stocks Tumble as Bullion Prices Slide for Third Straight Day

Shares of leading gold loan financiers

MANAPPURAM
uram Finance and
MUTHOOTFIN
ance faced sharp selling pressure on Thursday, mirroring a persistent downturn in gold prices that has now stretched to three consecutive sessions. The pullback in the yellow metal, triggered by profit-taking after a blistering rally, is casting a shadow over the sector, where fluctuating collateral values directly erode lending margins. Muthoot Finance, India's largest gold loan provider by assets, bore the brunt of the decline, with its stock plummeting 4.29% to close at ₹3,134.20 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). The scrip has now shed nearly 6% over the past three trading days, reflecting investor jitters amid the softening commodity backdrop. Manappuram Finance, a key peer in the space, wasn't spared either, dipping 2.8% to settle at ₹277.90 per share.
