SBI Q4 Results Preview: Net Profit Likely to Dip Amidst Rising NII

All eyes are on the

SBIN
dia (SBI), the nation's largest public sector lender, as it prepares to unveil its financial results for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2025 today. Ahead of the announcement, analysts anticipate a mixed bag of performance, with a projected rise in net interest income (NII) offset by a potential decline in net profit. Experts predict that SBI's standalone net profit for the quarter ending March 31, 2025, could see a year-on-year (YoY) fall of 12-15%, ranging between ₹17,200 crore and ₹18,100 crore. This is in comparison to the ₹20,698 crore net profit reported in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year (Q4FY24). The anticipated decrease is primarily attributed to a contraction in net interest margins (NIM) and a reduction in treasury income. However, on a sequential basis, the net profit is expected to remain relatively stable, close to the ₹16,891 crore reported in the December quarter. On a positive note, SBI's net interest income (NII) is projected to witness a growth of 4-7% YoY, potentially reaching between ₹42,950 crore and ₹43,900 crore. NII represents the difference between the interest income a bank earns from its lending activities and the interest it pays 1 on deposits.
