$ASHOKLEY Ashok Leyland is one of India's leading commercial vehicle manufacturers and the flagship automotive company of the Hinduja Group. It operates mainly across trucks, buses, light commercial vehicles, defence vehicles, power solutions and aftermarket services. For the analysis below, I am using the latest FY26 financials and the latest available FY27 developments. The stock was around ₹155–158 in late July 2026, after having traded in a 52-week range of roughly ₹115–₹215. 1. Company Details What does Ashok Leyland do? The company's core business is commercial vehicles (CVs): Heavy & Medium Commercial Vehicles — trucks Buses Light Commercial Vehicles Defence vehicles Power solutions Aftermarket/spares International business Its biggest strength is its established position in India's MHCV truck and bus market. Ashok Leyland is also trying to diversify through electric commercial vehicles, alternate fuels and international expansion. Competitive Position One of the important positives is its strong position in the Indian MHCV segment. In Q1 FY26, the company reported MHCV truck market-share improvement from 28.9% to 30.7%, while LCV volumes and exports also performed well. So this is not merely a cyclical recovery story; market-share gains are an important part of the investment thesis. 2. Fundamental Analysis A. Revenue Growth — Positive FY26 was a record year. Particular FY25 FY26 Growth Revenue ₹38,753 Cr ₹44,007 Cr 14% Operating PBT ₹4,245 Cr ₹5,163 Cr 22% PAT ₹3,303 Cr ₹3,566 Cr* 8% *FY26 PAT was affected by a one-time ₹308 crore labour-code related charge. This is a good fundamental trend because profit growth was substantially stronger than revenue growth at the operating level.
