$TRENT

$TRENT Trent Ltd, a Tata Group company, is India's fastest-growing fashion retailer. Its major brands include: Zudio – Value fashion (largest growth driver) Westside – Premium fashion & lifestyle Star Bazaar and other retail ventures The company has been one of the biggest wealth creators in the retail sector over the last few years. Fundamental Strengths Positives Strong Tata Group backing. ROE around 26–28%, indicating efficient capital utilization. ROCE above 27%, reflecting healthy profitability. Profit has grown at a very high CAGR over the past five years. Aggressive store expansion across India, especially through Zudio. Strong balance sheet with low financial risk. Current Concerns Despite an excellent business, the market has recently become cautious. Revenue growth has moderated to around 19–20%, lower than what investors expected. Same-store sales growth has slowed. Revenue per store is under pressure. Competition in value fashion is increasing. The stock still trades at a premium valuation of around 85–90x earnings, leaving little room for disappointment. Valuation Current valuation remains expensive compared to most retail peers. P/E: 85–90 Dividend Yield: 0.14% Market Cap: ₹1.5 lakh crore+ This means future returns will depend more on earnings growth than on valuation expansion. Technical View The stock has corrected sharply from its highs after the latest quarterly update because the market was disappointed with slower growth despite continued store expansion. The correction appears to be driven more by valuation reset than by deterioration in business quality.
