FII/DII Activity: DIIs Pour In ₹6,425 Crore; FIIs Buy
Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) turned net buyers in the cash market, recording purchases of ₹502.63 crore, while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) maintained strong buying momentum with net investments of ₹6,425.16 crore. In the derivatives segment, however, FIIs remained firmly on the selling side. They recorded net selling of ₹257.94 crore in Index Futures, ₹4,347.46 crore in Index Options, ₹2,512.16 crore in Stock Futures and ₹1,037.64 crore in Stock Options. The strong DII inflows offered some cushion to the market, but benchmark indices still closed lower. The Nifty slipped 126.80 points, or 0.5%, to 24,207.75, while the Sensex declined 183.15 points, or 0.2%, to 77,472.94. Meanwhile, the India VIX dropped 4.6% to 10.56, signalling softer volatility. Overall, robust domestic institutional buying helped limit the downside, although persistent FII selling across derivatives continued to weigh on market sentiment.
