Friday, August 28, 2026 FII Cash Market: Net Sell ₹5,039.80 crore DII Cash Market: Net Buy ₹5,183.93 crore FII Index Futures: Net Sell ₹774.13 crore FII Index Options: Net Buy ₹298.58 crore FII Stock Futures: Net Buy ₹148.46 crore FII Stock Options: Net Buy ₹100.96 crore Market Snapshot Nifty50: 24,175.65, up 84.80 points (0.4%) Sensex: 77,264.51, higher by 330.92 points (0.4%) India VIX: 10.68, down 0.39 points (3.5%) Market Overview Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) continued to remain net sellers in the cash market, with outflows of ₹5,039.80 crore. In contrast, Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) stepped up their buying activity, recording net purchases of ₹5,183.93 crore and providing a strong cushion to the market. In the derivatives segment, FIIs remained sellers in index futures and stock futures, while turning net buyers in index and stock options. This indicates a mixed positioning among overseas investors across derivative categories. Despite sizeable FII selling, the domestic benchmarks closed firmly higher. The Sensex gained over 330 points, while the Nifty50 advanced nearly 85 points, supported by robust domestic institutional participation. Meanwhile, the India VIX declined 3.5% to 10.68, signalling softer near-term volatility and relatively improved market sentiment. The combination of strong DII inflows and lower volatility helped offset the impact of heavy FII cash-market selling. Key takeaway: Strong DII buying played a crucial role in absorbing FII outflows, allowing the benchmark indices to finish in positive territory. However, continued foreign selling remains a factor investors may watch closely in the near term. Investment in securities market are subject to market risks.
