Balrampur Chini Bets Big on Green Expansion with ₹160 Cr Plant & ₹450 Cr Fundraise
Balrampur Chini Mills (
BALRAMCHIN
) is strengthening its diversification strategy by approving a ₹160 crore lactogypsum processing plant at Kumbhi, Uttar Pradesh, which will convert waste from its bio-plastic operations into value-added products, with a capacity of 76 lakh gypsum boards annually.
At the same time, the company is raising up to ₹450 crore through a preferential equity issue (issuing 93.16 lakh shares at ₹483 each) and has also approved an additional ₹200 crore fundraise via non-convertible debentures, taking total funding flexibility to over ₹650 crore.
Alongside this, it has revised the capex of its 80,000 tonnes per annum PLA (polylactic acid) project from ₹2,850 crore to ₹3,080 crore an increase of ₹230 crore due to rising input costs, supply chain disruptions, and design changes.
The new plant will be funded partly from the equity proceeds and is expected to improve by-product monetisation, reflecting a broader shift towards sustainable and integrated manufacturing, while the company continues to scale its existing operations that include 10 sugar factories with 80,000 tonnes/day crushing capacity, 1,050 KLPD distillery capacity, and 175.7 MW power generation.
