Biocon Biologics Expands Global Reach with Ustekinumab Launch in Japan

BIOCON
saw its shares rise by 2% following the announcement that its subsidiary, Biocon Biologics, has launched Ustekinumab BS Subcutaneous injection in Japan through its commercial partner Yoshindo Inc. The biosimilar, referencing Stelara, targets psoriasis vulgaris and psoriatic arthritis. This marks a strategic extension of its global biosimilar portfolio, having already introduced Ustekinumab in the US and European markets earlier this year. The launch in Japan comes after receiving regulatory approval in December 2024 and entering a licensing agreement with Janssen in April. The company’s Q4 performance was supported by robust execution in the generics segment, including the launch of Revlimid in the US and other key products in international markets. Notably, four of Biocon’s biosimilars crossed the $200 million sales mark in FY25, underlining the scale of its biosimilar operations. The Japan launch aligns with Biocon Biologics’ long-term strategy to enhance its presence in regulated markets through high-value biologics. Follow me for more such posts, Thank You!
