BPCL Joins GPS Renewables to Convert Farm Waste into Clean Fuel

has partnered with GPS Renewables to establish 8 to 10 compressed biogas plants in Bihar, Odisha, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. The joint venture will transform agricultural residue such as stubble into CBG, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, preventing crop burning and creating rural income through organized feedstock sourcing. This initiative aligns with government programs GOBARdhan, SATAT and the CBG Blending Obligation. BPCL, with refining capacity of 35.3 MMTPA and a network of over 23,500 fuel stations, aims to achieve scope‑1 and 2 net‑zero emissions by 2040. GPS Renewables contributes its track record of more than 100 biogas plants, Asia’s largest RNG facility in Indore, and enhanced technology capabilities from Germany’s Proweps Envirotech. By combining BPCL’s distribution reach and GPS’s waste‑to‑energy expertise, this partnership strengthens India’s push toward a low‑carbon energy future.
