GAIL Expands Strategic Partnerships to Strengthen India's Energy, Mineral and Digital Infrastructure
GAIL (India) Ltd has taken another strategic step towards supporting India's clean energy and resource security by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Khanij Bidesh India Ltd. (KABIL) to explore opportunities in critical and strategic minerals. The partnership will focus on identifying mining opportunities, sharing technical expertise, building capabilities and collaborating across the mining value chain to strengthen India's long-term supply of essential minerals required for clean energy technologies. Earlier, on March 25, the company approved an equity investment of up to $64 million (approximately ₹530 crore) in its wholly owned subsidiary, GAIL Global (USA) Inc., through one or more tranches to reduce outstanding loan obligations related to its shale assets in the Eagle Ford basin, Texas. The subsidiary reported a standalone turnover of $7.6 million in calendar year 2025. In another strategic initiative, GAIL also signed an MoU with RailTel Corporation of India Ltd. on March 5, 2026, to collaborate on digital infrastructure projects, with a focus on integrating energy infrastructure with emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI). These developments reflect GAIL's broader strategy of expanding beyond its traditional energy business by strengthening its presence across critical minerals, global energy assets and digital infrastructure, creating long-term growth opportunities while supporting India's evolving energy and technology landscape. $GAIL, and $RAILTEL Disclaimer: This post is for informational purposes only and not a recommendation to buy or sell any securities.
