HUDCO Eyes $1 Billion Funding from Global Institutions to Back India’s Metro & Urban Infrastructure

HUDCO
(Housing & Urban Development Corporation) has initiated advanced talks with multilateral development banks including ADB, AIIB, and Germany’s KfW—to raise about $1 billion by March, targeting low-cost capital for infrastructure. As per its CMD, the plan includes $500 million from ADB, $200–300 million from AIIB, and $200 million from KfW. This capital is aimed at creating a pooled fund that will support metro rail and other urban development projects. By diversifying into foreign funding, HUDCO seeks to lower financing costs while scaling its role as a key financier for India’s urban infrastructure.
