L&T Secures Pinaka Overhaul Deal with Army

Larsen & Toubro (

) has entered into a partnership with the Indian Army to overhaul, upgrade and manage obsolescence in in-service indigenous Pinaka Multi‑Rocket Launcher Systems, aiming to improve long-term availability and modernisation of deployed Pinaka regiments. The initiative is positioned as a public–private partnership model focused on sustaining frontline artillery through structured, lifecycle-based maintenance rather than conventional upkeep. Under the arrangement, 510 Army Base Workshop (ABW), EME will execute the overhaul and upgrade of critical electronics and systems, leveraging in-house workshop expertise. As the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), L&T will supply critical spares and provide technical support plus quality oversight to enable subsystem modernisation and manage ageing components. Execution will begin with a pilot overhaul of a Pinaka Launcher and a Battery Commander Post carried out jointly by L&T and 510 ABW; subsequent systems will be handled by 510 ABW with continued OEM support from L&T.
