L&T wins Dubai road contracts worth ₹7,500 crore
Larsen & Toubro Limited (LT) has secured two infrastructure contracts in Dubai worth up to ₹7,500 crore. The projects are scheduled for completion by December 2028.
The company's Transportation Infrastructure business has executed two contracts with Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority for the Latifa Bint Hamdan Corridor.
The first contract covers a new road connecting Al Khail Road with Latifa Bint Hamdan Street, including bridges, tunnels and associated road works. The second involves improvements to Al Meydan Street, a new interchange, connecting roads and a cycling track.
Once completed, the overall corridor will extend approximately 12 km. It is designed to accommodate 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions and over 1.3 lakh daily trips. Travel time between Umm Al Sheif Street and Emirates Road is expected to fall from 33 minutes to 15 minutes.
My view: The order matters beyond its headline value. Dubai's infrastructure spending adds international execution revenue to L&T's order book, while the two contracts strengthen its presence in the Middle East. However, the projects have a long execution period, so the immediate earnings contribution will depend on construction progress and project margins.
L&T shares are trading at ₹3,719.70, down 1.07% on Thursday, and have declined around 10% year-to-date. The key factor to track is whether new international orders translate into revenue growth and healthy cash flows without margin pressure.
