Molbio Diagnostics IPO

Does stock fall in these catagories?: 1. Strong Recurring Revenue Model: The business operates like a printer-ink model; once the "TrueNat" machines are sold to government agencies, the company generates consistent, long-term revenue through the sale of proprietary test kits. 2. Industry Tailwinds WHO Approval: Being WHO-certified for TB diagnostics provides significant competitive moat and credibility, positioning the company as a leader in infectious disease testing. 3. High Growth Potential: The company has demonstrated strong revenue growth and is continuously investing in R&D and intellectual property patents to stay ahead of market shifts. 4. Stable Financial Foundation: The company maintains a healthy debt-to-equity ratio and positive cash flow, with significant manufacturing capacity still underutilized, allowing for future scale without massive immediate capex. Key Risks Discussed: Promoter/Investor Cashing Out: A large portion of the IPO proceeds ₹740 crore is an Offer for Sale OFS, meaning the money goes to existing shareholders rather than the company’s growth. Concentration Risk: Roughly 90% of revenue is derived from the Indian market and primarily from government contracts, creating high dependency on policy and state budgets. Commission Spikes: There has been a massive increase in commission expenses from ₹64 Cr to ₹170 Cr, which has hampered net profit margins despite revenue growth. Valuation Concerns: The IPO is priced at a premium 57x P/E, which is on par with, or higher than, established peers, leaving little "safety margin" for investors. Capacity vs. Sales Disconnect: Despite having high manufacturing capacity, sales outside India have seen a decline, raising questions about organic demand growth.

Molbio Diagnostics Files for ₹12,000+ Crore IPO.

Goa-based Molbio Diagnostics, backed by Temasek and Motilal Oswal PE, has filed papers for an IPO valued at over ₹12,490 crore. The issue will include a ₹200 crore fresh issue and a large offer-for-sale (OFS) of up to 1.25 crore shares by promoters and investors. Key points: • Fresh issue: ₹200 crore, funds to be used for R&D infrastructure, new equipment at Goa & Vizag units, and general corporate needs. • OFS: Promoters and investors (including Temasek and Motilal Oswal PE) will sell a major stake. • Valuation: Based on recent adjusted issue price of ₹1,090/share, the company is valued at ₹12,490.8 crore. • Business: Known for its Truenat platform, a rapid molecular PCR test used for 30 diseases, including TB. It’s one of only two such global platforms and the only one from India—giving it strong market entry barriers. • Financials: FY25 profit surged 66% to ₹138.6 crore, while revenue rose 22% to ₹1,020.4 crore. Why it stands out: • Operates in a niche, oligopolistic diagnostics space with very high entry barriers. • Strong backing from global and domestic investors. • IPO structure shows more focus on existing shareholders exiting (OFS-heavy), while fresh issue proceeds are mainly for R&D and capacity expansion. Summary: Molbio Diagnostics is bringing a large, OFS-driven IPO at a premium valuation, built on its strong Truenat platform and growing demand for rapid molecular testing. With global-standard tech and healthy financials, it positions itself as a rare high-quality diagnostics play on Dalal Street.
