Molbio Diagnostics is a molecular point-of-care diagnostics company built around its proprietary Truenat platform, a portable PCR-based system designed for decentralised testing. As of March 2026, the platform covered 30 diseases through 43 assays, including tuberculosis, HIV, hepatitis and HPV, while the company has also expanded into radiology, digital pathology and breast-health screening. Truenat's patents across more than 100 countries and its positioning for resource-constrained healthcare settings provide meaningful entry barriers.
FY26 revenue from operations increased 41.7% to ₹1,445.6 crore, EBITDA rose 27.9% to ₹328.2 crore and PAT increased 18.4% to ₹164.1 crore. Q1 FY27 showed a much sharper recovery, with revenue reaching ₹411.5 crore versus ₹100.5 crore a year earlier, EBITDA of ₹103.7 crore versus a ₹14.5 crore loss and PAT of ₹52.7 crore versus a ₹23.9 crore loss. Operating margin was 25.4%, indicating a substantial improvement in profitability.
The key growth drivers are increasing molecular-testing adoption, expansion of Truenat assays, international penetration, higher test-kit consumption and investments in R&D and manufacturing capacity. However, concentration is an important risk: around 80% of FY26 revenue reportedly came from the B2G segment and around 70% from TB testing, making government programmes and TB-related demand significant dependencies.
Therefore, while the business has strong technology, improving profitability and substantial growth potential, the current valuation already discounts considerable future growth. Sustaining earnings growth while reducing customer/product concentration will be crucial to justify the premium valuation.#HiddenGems#Post-ClosingCommentary#FundamentalViews#StockInNews#EquityResearch
