POWERGRID Secures 765 kV Transmission Project and Approves ₹705.5 Cr Grid Strengthening Initiatives

POWERGRID
has been awarded the inter-state 765 kV D/c transmission line project connecting the Southern and Western grids through Karnataka and Maharashtra under the TBCB framework, to be executed on a BOOT basis. In addition, the company approved infrastructure investments worth ₹705.51 crore, including ₹209.68 crore for a VOIP-based communication system across all five regional grids by August 2026, and ₹495.83 crore for procuring 20 Emergency Restoration System sets (300 towers) under the Make in India program, slated for commissioning by April 2027. These developments are aimed at enhancing grid efficiency, strengthening disaster preparedness, and improving overall reliability of India’s power transmission network.
