SUNPHARMA
has launched LEQSELVI (deuruxolitinib) 8 mg tablets in the US for adults with severe alopecia areata, a condition where the immune system attacks hair follicles, leading to patchy or complete hair loss. The product showed encouraging results in trials that is about 33% of patients regained near-full scalp hair by Week 24, while 3% saw 80% or more coverage within 8 weeks. This launch comes after a legal settlement with Incyte Corporation, allowing Sun a limited license to market the drug for non-oncology indications.
While the upfront and royalty payments to Incyte remain confidential, this move marks Sun Pharma’s strategic entry into the high-potential US dermatology market. With limited therapies currently available for alopecia, LEQSELVI could fill a key gap and strengthen Sun's global specialty portfolio over the long term.
