Titagarh Rail’s ₹610 Cr Bet on Shipbuilding

TITAGARH
has taken a significant step toward expanding its maritime footprint, as its subsidiary receives in-principle approval for a ₹610 crore brownfield expansion project at Falta, West Bengal, under the government-backed shipbuilding initiative. The project includes capital assistance of ₹129 crore specifically for plant and machinery, highlighting strong policy support. Strategically, this expansion aims to enhance shipbuilding capabilities with advanced automation and infrastructure capable of handling vessels up to 180 meters, along with an estimated annual production capacity of 12–16 vessels. With an existing order book exceeding ₹500 crore and a track record of delivering over 35 vessels, the move positions the company to strengthen its presence across defence, commercial, and export segments.
