Zen Technologies Expands Counter-Drone Portfolio with High-Altitude Portable Defence System

Zen Technologies has introduced its High-Altitude Man-Portable Anti-Drone System (MPADS), marking a significant addition to its indigenous defence technology portfolio. Launched on Kargil Vijay Diwas, the portable system is specifically designed for deployment in mountainous and remote border regions where conventional vehicle-mounted systems are difficult to operate. The platform combines radio frequency detection, data fusion and omni-directional jamming in a compact design that can be carried by soldiers or transported using pack animals, all-terrain vehicles and unmanned ground vehicles. It can detect drones from up to 5 km by scanning the 400 MHz to 6 GHz radio frequency spectrum and can disrupt drone communication links and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signals through omni-directional jamming of up to 3 km. The system is also capable of identifying multiple drones, including swarm attacks, while operating continuously across different weather conditions. Integrated with a Data Fusion and Command Centre, it enables real-time monitoring, threat classification and operational decision-making. Financially, the company reported a softer performance in Q1, with net profit declining 27.8% year-on-year to ₹34.4 crore from ₹48 crore, while revenue from operations fell 10.5% to ₹141.6 crore from ₹158.2 crore. EBITDA declined 40.2% to ₹38.7 crore from ₹64.7 crore, with EBITDA margin narrowing to 27.3% from 40.9%.
