AXIS BANK: BANKING STOCK LEADS THE NIFTY RECOVERY

Axis Bank was the standout Nifty 50 performer on September 25, gaining **3.03% to close at ₹1,222.40**, with more than 69 lakh shares traded on the NSE. The move is particularly interesting because Axis Bank had fallen 4.56% during the previous session, when the Nifty experienced one of its sharpest single-day declines in recent months. Friday's recovery therefore brings the stock back into focus from a price-action perspective. The broader Nifty 50 recovered 0.34% to close at **23,140.50**, after defending the psychologically important 23,000 level during the session. However, the index still ended the week lower, marking its seventh consecutive weekly decline. For Axis Bank, the fundamental variables remain loan growth, net interest margin, asset quality, credit costs and return on equity. The next few quarters will be important for assessing whether balance-sheet growth can continue while maintaining credit quality. **Technical setup:** ₹1,220–₹1,225 becomes the immediate reference zone after Friday's strong close. If the stock sustains above this area with continued volume, traders can monitor whether the recent recovery extends toward the previous swing-high zone. On the downside, ₹1,200 becomes an important psychological support. A move below this level could indicate that Friday's recovery was primarily a short-covering or relief move. **What I am watching:** • ₹1,220–₹1,225 zone • ₹1,200 support • Bank Nifty participation • Loan-growth trends • Asset quality and credit costs • Volume confirmation Axis Bank's 3% recovery after Thursday's sharp decline makes it one of the banking stocks worth tracking for sustained price-volume confirmation. Disclosure I have no holding or financial interest in Axis Bank Limited at the time of writing.
