Engineers India wins major Kenya refinery order
Engineers India Limited has secured a contract worth more than US$450 million from Dangote Group for a greenfield refinery and petrochemical complex in Kenya.
The planned facility will have a capacity of 700,000 barrels per day.
Under the agreement, Engineers India will act as the Project Management Consultant and Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management consultant for the project.
Why does this matter?
This is a major overseas mandate for EIL and expands its relationship with Dangote Group. EIL had previously worked with Dangote on its 650,000 barrels-per-day refinery and petrochemical complex at Lekki in Nigeria.
The new contract strengthens EIL's international order pipeline and gives the company another large-scale project outside India. It also demonstrates the company's ability to win repeat business from an international energy group.
EIL had reported an all-time-high order book of ₹15,109 crore as of March 31, 2026. The latest contract adds further visibility, although the actual earnings impact will depend on project execution and revenue recognition over time.
The stock reacted strongly to the announcement, touching ₹301.90 on the NSE and marking a fresh 52-week high during Tuesday's session.
My view:
The order is a meaningful fundamental trigger, but after a sharp price reaction, I would focus on execution rather than chasing the initial move.
What I am watching next:
Track order-book growth, international order inflows, execution milestones and margin performance over the coming quarters.
Disclosure: I have no holding or financial interest in Engineers India Limited.#Miscellaneous
