ITC Closes Up 5% as Nifty Snaps Its Losing Streak

The market closed strongly higher today, with the Nifty50 settling at 22,555.75, up 133.80 points (0.60%), and the Sensex gaining 473 points, snapping a four-day losing run as global equities advanced on reduced bets of further Fed rate hikes. 1)

ITC
closed in the biggest green today, surging 5.08% to ₹268.90 on heavy volume of over 4.85 crore shares, the clear top gainer on the Nifty50 by close. 2)BSE Ltd and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles were also among the day's strongest performers, alongside Bajaj Finance and Eternal, rounding out a list dominated by financials, consumption, and auto names. 3)Bajaj Finance had an eventful day of its own. It surged as much as 5% in early trade (hitting ₹995.40) after the NBFC posted a strong Q2 business update and its board approved raising up to ₹17,500 crore via a Qualified Institutional Placement, though by the close, ITC had pulled ahead as the day's single biggest gainer. 4)HCL Technologies and Max Healthcare were the day's main laggards, with HCL Tech dropping over 3%, keeping IT and healthcare as the weak spots even on an otherwise strong day.
