Today's Opening- Weak Start, IT & Banking Under Pressure

The market opened weak today, Sensex fell around 500 points, Nifty slipped below 23,550 in early trade. IT and banking stocks led the selling, with Infosys and SBI among the decliners, while ONGC and Adani Enterprises bucked the trend and opened higher. This comes on a day when six mainboard IPOs (Rentomojo, Asset Reconstruction Company India, Manipal Payment & Identity Solutions, Steamhouse India, LCC Projects, Karamtara Engineering) are opening for subscription simultaneously- a rare event pulling investor liquidity toward the primary market, which could be adding to the soft tone in secondary market trade. Pharma stock to watch:

BIOCON
Biocon is flagged as one of the stocks in focus today per CNBC-TV18's list of names likely to see action this session, alongside Bank of Baroda, TCS, Raymond, and Great Eastern Shipping. It closed marginally higher (+₹0.90) in yesterday's session. I'll be upfront here - I don't have a confirmed, specific catalyst for why Biocon is in focus today beyond its inclusion in that watchlist. Historically the stock has moved on USFDA inspection outcomes, biosimilars approvals, and its ongoing biologics consolidation story (post the Viatris stake buyout), so any fresh regulatory or business update could be the driver, I'd recommend checking a live source like NSE before treating this as a strong signal.
