The Ministry of Defence has signed a ₹810.79 crore contract with Bharat Dynamics for 160 Satellite Smart Anti-Airfield Weapons (SAT-SAAW) and associated equipment for the Indian Air Force. The contract has been placed under the Buy (Indian-Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured) category. Deliveries are scheduled across FY2027-28 and FY2028-29. The weapon system is indigenously designed and developed by DRDO and has 60% indigenous content. It can be deployed from platforms including the Jaguar, Hawk and Su-30 MKI. My view is that the order provides visibility over future execution rather than an immediate one-quarter earnings impact because deliveries are spread across two financial years. The more important factor will be BDL's ability to execute this order alongside its existing order book.
