Zodiac Energy adds Zenwatt as renewable subsidiary
Zodiac Energy Ltd. (ZODIAC) has completed the acquisition of a 63.5% stake in Zenwatt Clean Energy for approximately ₹1.14 crore, making Zenwatt its subsidiary effective September 21, 2026. The transaction expands Zodiac Energy's renewable-energy portfolio and strengthens its presence in the solar power value chain. Based on the disclosed consideration, the transaction implies an equity valuation of roughly ₹1.8 crore for 100% of Zenwatt, although the actual financial impact will depend on Zenwatt's assets, liabilities, earnings and future performance. The strategic importance is greater than the acquisition cost. Zodiac Energy is engaged in the installation of solar power generation plants and related equipment, while the Zenwatt acquisition provides an opportunity to broaden its renewable-energy operations. The Board had approved the strategic investment and acquisition in February 2026, and completion has now converted Zenwatt into a subsidiary. Why it matters: The deal supports Zodiac's stated strategy of expanding its renewable-energy portfolio and operational capabilities. Investors should focus on whether the subsidiary contributes meaningful revenue, order flow and profitability over the coming quarters. Next triggers: Integration of Zenwatt, new solar orders, capacity expansion, revenue contribution and margin performance. My view: The acquisition is strategically aligned with Zodiac Energy's core solar business, but its investment significance will depend on execution and the scale of financial contribution from Zenwatt, rather than the ₹1.14 crore acquisition value alone.
