Bharti Airtel intends to collect Rs. 9,230 crore (US$ 1 billion) for its data center unit Nxtra Data Ltd. to aid the growth of digital infrastructure in India. The funding is anticipated to originate from international investors, such as Alpha Wave Global and Carlyle, with the purpose of enhancing Nxtra’s ability to fulfill the increasing need for data storage, cloud services, and digital connectivity. Reports suggest that Alpha Wave Global could invest approximately Rs. 3,320 crore (US$ 400 million), with Carlyle and Bharti Airtel potentially contributing approximately Rs. 2,490 crore (US$ 300 million) for the suggested funding round. The funding will aid Nxtra’s plan to grow its data centre network and improve digital infrastructure capabilities in important markets. Nxtra Data Ltd. functions as one of the largest data center firms in India, having broadened its operations to accommodate the needs of India's expanding digital economy. The company now runs several large data centers in key Indian cities and is still investing in high-capacity facilities to back enterprise clients, hyperscalers, and government digital platforms. The suggested investment will accelerate infrastructure growth, while it will improve cloud services and data services capabilities for India, which is experiencing growing digital storage demands due to increased internet access and data consumption, along with industry digital transformation
