Forecasts Predict the Indian Food Processing Market Will Grow to US$ 600 Billion by 2030

According to a recent FICCI and Deloitte report unveiled at Foodworld India 2026, India's food processing sector is on track to reach a valuation of ₹57 lakh crore (US$ 600 billion) by 2030. This exponential growth is being fueled by a strategic pivot away from traditional volume-based supply chains toward a consumer-focused, technology-driven, and value-added model. Currently, only 12–13% of India's agricultural output undergoes processing, leaving immense room for expansion. Much of this future growth will be driven by changing dietary habits, with the demand for premium, convenient, and health-focused foods surging at an annual rate of 15–20%—nearly double the growth pace of the general food market. To capitalize on this booming market, government leaders are rolling out ambitious regional and international strategies. At the state level, Andhra Pradesh’s Minister T.G. Bharath announced a bold target to secure ₹30,000 crore (US$ 3.16 billion) in sector investments by 2029, a move anticipated to generate over 300,000 new jobs. Nationally, the government is focusing on global expansion, with Food Processing Industries Secretary Avinash Joshi detailing plans for a unified ‘Bharat’ brand. This initiative is designed to elevate the international profile of Indian processed foods, significantly boosting export competitiveness and overall value addition on the world stage.
