Gautam Adani, head of the Adani Group, stated that the conglomerate intends to invest over US$ 75 billion in the coming five years to speed up India's shift to renewable energy, which he considers one of the largest growth sectors globally. At the centenary celebration of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, Adani highlighted that the green energy sector will cover multiple domains, including electricity-driven manufacturing, green steel, green fertilizers, hydrogen ecosystems, and essential digital infrastructure components, profoundly influencing the overall advancement of all industrialized nations in the coming decades. Additionally, Adani Group has recently finalized the setup of its 10 gigawatt (GW) renewable energy plant in Khavda, Gujarat (the largest solar generation facility under construction globally), spanning around 520 square kilometers. The project will be finalised by 2030 and will produce 30 GW of renewable energy, supplying over 60 million households in India annually and establishing a standard for the affordability of green energy globally.
Adani emphasised the necessity for India to improve its domestic mining and mineral resources to meet its strategic needs. He emphasized the essential role of diverse minerals and geological sciences in facilitating clean technology progress and backing future technological innovations. Essential minerals required for renewable energy, electric mobility, artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, and semiconductor technology consist of rare earth elements, lithium, copper, silicon, and uranium. Adani states that all of these AI chips, hyperscale cloud infrastructure, and digital engines are produced from mineral resources taken from the ground. Adani remarked that mining is increasingly vital for developing the new digital services economy.
