Google-Redseer Quick Commerce Outlook FY31
According to a joint report by Google and Redseer Strategy Consultants, India’s quick commerce market is projected to expand nearly sevenfold, reaching ₹8.54 lakh crore ($90 billion) by FY31, up from roughly ₹1.15 lakh crore ($13 billion) in FY26. This rapid acceleration will be powered by deeper penetration across metro households and rising adoption in non-metro regions, with national monthly transacting users expected to surpass 100 million. Metros are projected to drive around 60% of incremental growth, with quick commerce's share of metro retail spending potentially climbing from 6% to between 20% and 23%. In the immediate term, festive season sales are anticipated to surge 110% year-on-year, capturing approximately 18% of total online festive expenditure as platforms successfully transition from small top-up grocery orders to larger, planned household purchases. Beyond daily groceries, non-grocery segments—including beauty, personal care, home essentials, and consumer electronics—are forecast to scale dramatically from ₹26,511 crore ($3 billion) in FY26 to between ₹1.99 lakh crore and ₹2.56 lakh crore ($21–27 billion) by FY31, backed by wider product assortments, authenticity assurances, and enhanced digital discovery. Outside major urban centers, the addressable market encompasses roughly 200 million online shoppers across more than 300 cities, though platforms must overcome smaller basket sizes, freshness concerns, and purchase trust hurdles. Unlocking this broader demographic will require operators to adapt to regional consumer preferences, build robust trust markers, and tightly integrate online product discovery with ultra-fast local fulfillment.
