HPCL and Tata Motors have collaborated to initiate a pilot project aimed at creating a structured system for the collection, storage, transport, and recycling of used automotive lubricants in India. The initiative aims to tackle the problem of handling used lubricants, classified as hazardous waste, while promoting the nation’s circular economy objectives and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) structure. Through this partnership, HPCL will manage the collection and transportation of used lubricants via authorized systems and guarantee their transfer to registered recyclers. Tata Motors plans to leverage its wide-reaching authorized service network to enable organized collection and encourage responsible disposal methods throughout its ecosystem. The pilot initiative will first be implemented in specific states and overseen by a joint committee made up of representatives from both firms to assess operational advancement and scalability. The collaboration aims to create a traceable waste management framework that can enhance resource efficiency, minimize environmental hazards, and facilitate the creation of high-quality re-refined base oil from recycled lubricants. HPCL states that this partnership represents an important advancement in minimizing the carbon footprint linked to lubricant disposal and enhancing sustainable industrial practices. The initiative aims to establish new standards for responsible waste management within the automotive and energy industries, while also supporting India's long-term sustainability and resource efficiency goals. $TMPV $TMCV $HINDPETRO
