ICRA Forecasts Steady Growth for Indian Tractor Market in FY27
FY27 Growth & Forecast: India's tractor industry is set for steady growth of 1–4% in FY27, following a massive 23.5% surge in FY26. Growth is moderating mainly due to last year's high sales base and an expected below-normal southwest monsoon driven by El Niño conditions, which could impact kharif crops and farm incomes if dry spells persist across key regions. Current Sales Momentum: June 2026 recorded strong growth, with wholesale volumes up 11.9% and retail sales up 25.3% year-on-year. This performance was boosted by favorable prior-year comparisons, solid farm cash flows, and increased affordability following the 2025 GST rate cut. Long-Term Sector Outlook: Manufacturers are expected to maintain stable profit margins through disciplined pricing and efficient cost structures. Despite short-term weather risks, the industry's long-term future remains bright, driven by expanding farm mechanization among smallholders, ongoing rural infrastructure investments, and strong domestic manufacturing that solidifies India's role as a global tractor leader. $ASHOKLEY $M&M
