India's 'Data for Development' takes centre stage at Artificial Intelligence (AI) Summit in Paris

India is taking a significant step in shaping the future of artificial intelligence (AI) by participating in the AI Action Summit Paris 2025. AI4India and the Center for Policy Research and Governance (CPRG) will co-host a panel discussion titled "Data for Development: Building AI in the Global South," focusing on AI’s transformative role in emerging economies. This event will feature leading experts and policymakers, including Mr. Abhishek Singh, Mr. Shashi Shekhar Vempati, Mr. Alok Agrawal, Dr. Ramanand Nand, Mr. Sean Dougherty, and Mr. Gunjan Bhardwaj, discussing critical themes such as data sovereignty, AI's impact on global trade, economic resilience, and the future of work in an AI-driven era. AI4India and CPRG are the only non-governmental organizations from India hosting an official side event at the summit, bringing together global AI and policy leaders. The event will explore three key themes: ensuring equitable AI development in emerging economies, reimagining economic structures impacted by AI, and preparing the workforce for an AI-driven future. Through this discussion, AI4India aims to highlight its "Data Daan" initiative, promoting open, publicly accessible datasets for AI model development in India. The event will also foster international collaboration and bridge technological gaps to ensure that AI serves the global good.
