India's exports of gems and jewellery rose by 6.55% in September 2025 to Rs. 25,844 crore (US$ 2.91 billion), propelled by robust festive and wedding season demand despite worldwide challenges, as stated by the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC). In contrast, exports were recorded at Rs. 24,245 crore (US$ 2.73 billion) in September 2024. In H1 FY26, total gems and jewellery exports increased by 3.66% to Rs. 1,25,133 crore (US$ 14.09 billion), increased from Rs. 1,20,782 crore (US$ 13.60 billion) during the same timeframe the previous year. GJEPC Chairman, Mr. Kirit Bhansali, expressed that the rebound in major markets like the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Hong Kong, and the United Kingdom (UK) is an encouraging indicator, noting that the festive demand from the Indian diaspora and international holiday markets will support this growth in the next quarter. GJEPC is collaborating with the government to find relief solutions for impacted exporters, such as postponing loan interest, assistance in pre-shipment financing, and prolongation of the Interest Equalisation Scheme. The council additionally suggested concessional loans, liquidity assistance, and short-term healthcare coverage under Ayushman Bharat for employees. In the interim, the export of cut and polished diamonds increased by 5.91% to Rs. In September 2025, gold jewellery exports increased by 2.40% to Rs. 12,078 crore (US$ 1.36 billion). 9,680 crore (US$ 1.09 billion)
