India's real estate sector has displayed impressive development, achieving 15th place worldwide with a 7.7% nominal price rise in Q1 2025. The residential market in the country is thriving due to high end-user demand, increasing incomes, and renewed interest from investors. This favorable trend is anticipated to persist until 2025, propelled by economic growth and consistent interest rates. As per Knight Frank's Global House Price Index, Indian residential property values rose by 2.9% on a quarterly basis, indicating ongoing buyer confidence. Worldwide, yearly price increase across the 55 markets monitored by Knight Frank increased to 2.3% in Q1 2025, a slight recovery from the 1.7% noted in Q4 2024. The report shows that 87% of the markets experienced positive annual growth, a notable enhancement compared to earlier years when increased borrowing costs had dampened demand. Turkey, North Macedonia, and Portugal emerged as the leading nations with double-digit yearly growth. Simultaneously, Mainland China and Hong Kong SAR faced the sharpest drops. Mr. Shishir Baijal, CMD of Knight Frank India, observed that the favorable price trend underscores the resilience of India's housing market, despite global economic challenges. He expects that as interest rates continue to stabilize, demand will stay strong, particularly in the mid- and premium housing markets. Mr. Liam Bailey, Global Head of Research at Knight Frank, mentioned that although there has been a slight recovery in global house price growth, real affordability continues to be under pressure. He thinks that additional policy relaxation will be required this year to maintain growth. India's housing market stability is anticipated to continue until 2025, driven by robust domestic demand and economic expansion
