India's role in leading the global clean energy transition was reaffirmed at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, where Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Mr Pralhad Joshi highlighted the nation’s approach to achieving large-scale growth while ensuring it remains affordable and sustainable. In high-level discussions, including meetings with MMrBørge Brende, President and CEO of the World Economic Forum, the Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, MrMrralhad Joshi, highlighted the importance of international collaboration and the significance of multilateral frameworks and ongoing dialogue between governments and businesses in advancing sustainable development. The Indian journey in building the decentralised new energy sector, encompassing rooftop solar, agricultural innovations, and mini grids, was discussed during a roundtable at the WEF meeting, particularly as a scalable option for the Global South. Highlighting the significance of Indian states in the energy transition, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Mr Pralhad Joshi, stated that states focused on reform are effectively executing national policy, with Madhya Pradesh serving as an exemplary model for large-scale renewable energy, affordable solar energy, and internationally competitive green hydrogen pricing.
