Jio Financial Services Limited (JFSL) and Germany's Allianz have formed a joint venture called Allianz Jio Reinsurance Limited (AJRL) to function in the Indian reinsurance market. The initiative was launched after obtaining a no objection certificate from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), and the Certificate of Incorporation was granted by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on September 8, 2025. AJRL will secure a primary investment of Rs. 2,50,000 (US$ 2,835) via 25,000 equity shares priced at Rs. 10 each (US$ 0.11), with both partners possessing equal 50% shares.
The establishment of AJRL comes after a contractual agreement revealed on July 18, 2025, designed to capitalize on the rapid growth prospects in India’s insurance sector. The partnership merges JFSL’s understanding of local markets and broad digital reach with Allianz’s worldwide reinsurance knowledge and underwriting skills. The partnership will utilize Allianz's current Allianz Re and Allianz Commercial portfolios in India and gain from its worldwide infrastructure, such as pricing, risk assessment, and portfolio management, highlighting a revitalized emphasis on the Indian market.
