Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR Airport) has reached an important milestone by being the first airport in India to obtain Level-2 Accreditation through the Airports Council International’s (ACI) Accessibility Enhancement Accreditation (AEA) program. This achievement positions BLR Airport within an exclusive circle of international airports acknowledged for their dedication to incorporating accessibility into their strategy, policy, and overall passenger experience. The AEA program, the sole worldwide initiative focused on promoting accessibility in aviation, assesses airports concerning their amenities, services, and management, recognizing ongoing enhancements for passengers with reduced mobility (PRMs) and individuals with disabilities (PwDs). Bengaluru Airport has adopted numerous inclusive initiatives to obtain this accreditation. These consist of the Sunflower Lanyard program, which assists travelers with unseen disabilities, and the inaugural sensory room in India for neurodivergent individuals, offering a soothing atmosphere.
