Mahindra Group has teamed up with Embraer Defense & Security to launch the C-390 Millennium military transport plane in India, progressing the Indian Air Force’s Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) initiative. The strategic partnership agreement, signed at the opening of Embraer’s national office in Aerocity, New Delhi, extends a February 2024 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and includes collaborative marketing, localisation efforts, and positioning India as a regional center for the manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance of the C-390. Through the partnership, Mahindra and Embraer will work together with India’s defence and aerospace sector to investigate local manufacturing, supply chain collaborations, and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services. President - Aerospace & Defense, Trucks, Buses & CE, Executive Chairman - SML Isuzu Ltd. Mr. Vinod Sahay stated that the initiative bolsters India’s security, the ‘Make in India’ vision, and self-sufficiency. Mr. Bosco da Costa Junior, President & CEO of Embraer Defence & Security, emphasized India's vibrant aerospace industry and the goal to provide cutting-edge military transport solutions. The C-390 Millennium is currently operational or contracted with numerous air forces worldwide, strengthening defense and aerospace partnerships between Brazil and India.
