National AI Skilling Initiative: Phase I Enrolments and Curriculum Insights

Phase I of the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Skilling Initiative has recorded 60,253 enrolments, aiming to enhance AI literacy and provide students with industry-relevant digital competencies. The first phase spans 33 hours across four distinct modules: AI Essentials, Prompting Essentials, Introduction to Generative AI, and Generative AI Leader. Delivered through two learning platforms, the curriculum addresses practical productivity applications, prompt-writing, large language model fundamentals, and strategic generative AI adoption. To date, 4,620 participants have completed two modules, while 552 students have completed all four modules. Jointly developed by the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) and private sector partners, the program provides both foundational and advanced instruction, culminating in joint certification for advanced modules. While the Central Government provides strategic direction and facilitates implementation via IICT, details for Phase II—including its modules, curriculum, and duration—are currently being finalized. As announced by Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. L. Murugan, in the Lok Sabha, this public-private initiative is designed to build a digitally skilled workforce aligned with modern industry standards. $NIITLTD
