National Industrial Corridor Development Programme: Driving India's Manufacturing Infrastructure

Under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP), the Government of India is accelerating regional economic growth and manufacturing through a Centre-State partnership model. A total of 20 industrial nodes have been approved across key states—including 12 added in the last five years—to establish integrated manufacturing ecosystems with plug-and-play facilities and robust multimodal connectivity. To drive execution through project-specific Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs), the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) sanctioned ₹16,172.95 crore (US$ 1.73 billion) to the NICDIT trust, which has already disbursed ₹14,569.97 crore (US$ 1.56 billion). World-class infrastructure—spanning roads, power networks, ICT facilities, water supply, and waste treatment plants—has already been completed across four primary townships: Dholera (Gujarat), Shendra-Bidkin (Maharashtra), Greater Noida (Uttar Pradesh), and Vikram Udyogpuri (Madhya Pradesh). Development across the remaining 16 corridor projects is being fast-tracked through digital monitoring tools such as PRAGATI, the Project Monitoring Group portal, and the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan. The initiative seamlessly blends internal township infrastructure with essential external connectivity—including rail, road, telecom, power, and water utilities—while streamlining statutory clearances through close coordination between central and state bodies. By offering ready-to-use industrial land across strategic hubs in states like Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan, and Punjab, the programme aims to boost logistics efficiency, draw significant domestic and foreign investments, create jobs, and advance India's position as a global manufacturing hub.
