Numerous measures implemented by the Government to accelerate exports and imports.

The Government of India has introduced various initiatives to accelerate exports and imports within the scope of the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) framework. Union Minister of State for Finance, Mr. Pankaj Chaudhary, recently affirmed these initiatives in a written response to a question in the Rajya Sabha. Essential facilitation measures for AEO certificate holders consist of improved consignment processing for both imports and exports, the availability of Direct Port Delivery (DPD) for incoming containers, and Direct Port Entry (DPE) for outgoing containers. Additionally, AEO status allows for automated processing and on-site inspections for certain types of consignments, as well as a deferred payment option for holders of Tier-II and Tier-III certificates. Looser regulations for submitting bank guarantees, when relevant, along with acknowledgment by Partner Government Agencies (PGAs) and additional stakeholders, enhance the efficiency of trade processes. Holders of these certificates also gain advantages from trade facilitation assistance from foreign customs administrations that have formed Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MRAs) with India, enhancing their global trade efficiency. By June 30, 2025, there had been 5,892 AEO certificates issued. In order to enhance awareness and promote involvement in the AEO Scheme, especially among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), the Government of India has organized more than 60 outreach programmes across the country in the last three years. In November 2024, a significant global conference named "India AEO Dialogue: Enhancing Global Trade Partnerships" took place, accompanied by two further conferences in April and May 2025 with various participants. In 2020, to enhance MSME participation, the AEO certification accreditation process was simplified, the necessary annexures for their applications were streamlined, and processing was expedited.
