Pralhad Joshi Inaugurates Windergy India 2026 in Chennai

India is accelerating its renewable energy transition by building a robust domestic wind ecosystem to achieve 100 GW of installed capacity by 2030. Speaking at the eighth edition of Windergy India 2026 in Chennai—which hosted over 400 global exhibitors and 500 international delegates—Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi highlighted the sector's rapid momentum. Installed capacity reached 59.20 GW as of September 30, 2026, supported by a record 6.05 GW added in FY2025–26, with annual additions expected to expand further in FY2026–27. The platform served as an anchor for cross-border collaboration, featuring country pavilions from Denmark, Germany, and Spain while fostering technical exchanges to elevate India as a global manufacturing and export center for wind technology. Regional progress and regulatory streamlining played a prominent role in the proceedings. Tamil Nadu Energy Resources and Law Minister C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar detailed state-level initiatives, including the active implementation of its repowering policy to modernize older turbines. State governments were acknowledged for resolving Right-of-Way issues and speeding up land allocations, alongside key international strategic pacts—including the IWTMA-BWE Global MoU, IWTMA-PTB LoI, and IWTMA-OECD partnerships. The event also featured the release of targeted industry whitepapers—Energy Transition in Tamil Nadu and Reimagining Contractual Mechanism for Indian Wind Sector—outlining policy frameworks to drive continuous innovation, structural reform, and value chain modernization.
