Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi declared that India will provide Fiji with 12 agricultural drones and two mobile soil testing labs to enhance bilateral cooperation. The declaration was issued in a joint press conference with the Honourable Prime Minister of the Republic of Fiji, Mr. Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka. Emphasizing India's dedication to health and agriculture, he mentioned that a 100-bed super specialty hospital will be established in Suva, along with the inclusion of dialysis units, sea ambulances, and the launch of Jan Aushadhi Kendras to provide affordable medications. He also stated that a ‘Jaipur Foot’ camp will be held in Fiji to assist individuals with disabilities. In the agriculture sector, he stated that the drones and soil testing laboratories will improve innovation and efficiency in Fiji’s sugar industry. India will dispatch an ITEC expert to the Fiji Sugar Corporation and arrange training sessions for Fijian sugar specialists. Multiple Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) were executed to enhance collaboration, including pacts between the Fiji Development Bank and India’s National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) focused on agricultural financing and rural development, between the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and Fiji’s Department of National Trade Measurement & Standards; and between India’s National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) and Fiji’s Pacific Polytechnic regarding capacity building. Additional agreements included collaboration between the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation (FCEF), as well as the provision of pharmaceuticals through the Jan Aushadhi Scheme
