STP Units Hit ₹7.74 Lakh Crore in FY26 Exports
India’s Software Technology Park (STP) units demonstrated strong growth in FY26, with estimated exports reaching ₹7.74 lakh crore (US$ 87.57 billion), up from ₹6.88 lakh crore (US$ 81.40 billion) in FY25. The total number of operational STP units expanded to 2,125 during the period, driving an estimated capital investment of ₹7,362.86 crore (US$ 817.0 million) alongside ₹9,960.26 crore in equipment imports. Geographical contributions remained heavily concentrated in major IT corridors, with Karnataka leading total exports at ₹3.50 lakh crore (US$ 38.91 billion), followed by Maharashtra, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu.
To further accelerate this growth, Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) implemented key regulatory reforms aimed at enhancing operational ease under its 100% export-oriented scheme. Statutory procedures have been streamlined through fully automated systems for SOFTEX filings and direct integration with the Reserve Bank of India’s Export Data Processing and Monitoring System (EDPMS) for real-time data flow. Additionally, compliance burdens have been significantly reduced by replacing case-by-case import permissions with annual blanket approvals and substituting prior approvals for Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) sales with simple self-declarations.
